The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Annual Meeting is a forum for the realization of the Society’s mission and goals: the improvement of patient care for those with spinal deformities. Five faculty-led instructional course lectures, 179 abstract papers, and 91 E-Point Presentations will be presented on an array of topics, including adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, neuromuscular scoliosis, growing spine, kyphosis, adult deformity, minimally invasive surgery, and machine learning.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the Annual Meeting, participants should be able to:
- Discuss surgical indications, planning targets, and approaches available for obtaining appropriate spinal correction for patients with congenital or acquired spinal deformity.
- Improve knowledge of operative techniques for fusion to the pelvis, role for sacroiliac joint fusion, and use of a multirod construct.
- Analyze operative and non-operative standard of care for pediatric and adult spinal deformity surgery.
- Recognize 3D concepts and summarize the new 3D classification of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, including new modifiers emphasizing transverse plane deformities, which offers more comprehensive understanding of scoliosis beyond traditional sagittal and coronal measurements.
- Assess preoperative and postoperative techniques to reduce the risk of complications and infection in spine surgery patients.
- Increase level of knowledge about machine learning, artificial intelligence, and how to deploy these technologies in academic and clinical practice in the care of spinal deformity patients..
TARGET AUDIENCE
Spine surgeons (orthopaedic and neurological surgeons), residents, fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, engineers, and company personnel.
