  • Course Title: Dermatopathology in Paradise: Medical Dermatology to Melanocytic Tumors 2026

  • Organizer: Scientific Symposiums International (SSI)

  • Description: Dermatopathology in Paradise: Medical Dermatology to Melanocytic Tumors 2026 is a comprehensive continuing medical education conference organized by Scientific Symposiums International. Led by an esteemed faculty of experts—Philip LeBoit, M.D., Maxwell Fung, M.D., Joyce Lee, M.D., and Daniel Miller, M.D.—this course provides an in-depth, practical review of diagnostic dermatopathology across the spectrum of inflammatory skin diseases, infectious dermatoses, vascular anomalies, hair disorders, cutaneous lymphomas, pediatric tumors, and melanocytic neoplasms. Through didactic lectures and challenging clinicopathologic case discussions, participants will gain actionable diagnostic pearls, learn to avoid common histologic pitfalls, and apply updated diagnostic criteria and appropriate ancillary testing in daily practice.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Differentiate spongiotic and psoriasiform dermatitides, unusual variants of common inflammatory skin diseases, and eosinophil-rich dermatoses using key histopathologic criteria.

  • Recognize the histologic features of cutaneous infections and distinguish them from their non-infectious clinical and pathologic mimics.

  • Apply calibrated diagnostic criteria to accurately evaluate dysplastic nevi, melanoma in situ, and melanocytic lesions at special anatomic sites while avoiding common diagnostic pitfalls.

  • Identify key histopathologic clues and diagnostic pitfalls in both scarring and non-scarring alopecias.

  • Evaluate vascular anomalies, occlusive vasculitides, and vasculopathies using current classification and clinicopathologic correlation.

  • Distinguish cutaneous lymphomas from reactive lymphoid infiltrates and recognize challenging pediatric tumors and inpatient dermatopathology consultations.

  • Utilize updated diagnostic frameworks for immunobullous diseases and apply Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for ancillary testing in dermatopathology.

Target Audience

This course is designed for practicing pathologists, dermatopathologists, dermatologists, and residents/fellows in pathology and dermatology seeking to enhance their diagnostic skills in medical dermatology and melanocytic tumors.

Best for Dermatopathologists, Pathologists, Surgical Pathologists, Dermatologists, Pediatric Dermatologists, Oncologists, and Infectious Disease Specialists.
