The 18th Annual Sanford Sports Medicine Symposium is a premier continuing medical education event dedicated to the latest advancements, surgical techniques, and evidence-based protocols in sports medicine and orthopedics. Hosted by Sanford Health, this two-day comprehensive symposium brings together leading regional and national experts to discuss innovative approaches to injury prevention, acute trauma management, surgical intervention, and progressive rehabilitation. The program is designed to bridge the gap between clinical theory and on-field application, aiming to optimize athletic performance, enhance patient safety, and expedite return-to-play timelines across all levels of athletic competition.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
-
Evaluate and implement current evidence-based protocols for diagnosing, managing, and rehabilitating sports-related concussions.
-
Formulate comprehensive surgical and conservative treatment plans for complex ligamentous and joint injuries, including the knee, shoulder, and hip.
-
Identify biomechanical risk factors in athletes and apply appropriate corrective interventions to prevent overuse and catastrophic injuries.
-
Integrate emerging techniques in regenerative medicine and orthobiologics into the management of chronic tendinopathies and cartilage defects.
-
Develop interdisciplinary, criteria-based “return-to-play” protocols that utilize quantitative metrics and address both the physical and psychological readiness of the athlete.
-
Execute evidence-based on-field emergency action plans for acute athletic trauma, including sudden cardiac arrest and cervical spine injuries.
Target Audience
This symposium is designed for primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals involved in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletes.
