Course Overview

The overall goal of the two-day conference is to share state-of-the-art information related to infectious diseases clinical practice as it is applied in the outpatient as well as the inpatient setting. The course, taught by experts in the field from the University of Pennsylvania, will include core topics such as antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance, skin and soft tissue infections, endocarditis, hepatitis C virus and its treatment, musculoskeletal infections, sexually transmitted diseases, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) care, tick-borne illness, travel medicine, vaccines, Clostridioides difficile infections, and non-infectious causes of fever. The conference aims to enable physicians and nurses to stay current with best practices, diagnoses, and treatments of common infectious diseases diagnosed in the primary care and other practice settings. The conference will provide relevant management advice and critical information relevant to clinical decision-making.

The lectures, case discussions, and panels will provide helpful pearls as well as thorough reviews of the diagnosis and management of complex cases as instructive examples. The content is intended to augment the attendees’ ability to practice medicine according to the most recent available guidelines related to infectious disease and to broaden their knowledge of this rapidly changing field.
