Children and their families frequently seek medical care to address dermatologic complaints. Skin conditions, both acute and chronic, can be disabling, negatively impacting a child’s quality of life and occasionally be a clue to an underlying, undiagnosed disorder. The field of pediatric dermatology is a growing subspecialty dedicated to understanding these conditions. Each year, advances are made within our field providing a better understanding of both rare and common skin, hair and nail disorders. Also, the list of novel therapies in pediatric dermatology is exponentially growing.
