Internal Medicine for Primary Care: Ear, Nose, and Throat/Gynecology/Neurology/Pulmonology is an exceptional continuing medical education conference organized by Medical Education Resources (MER). Held at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa in Kauai, Hawaii, this comprehensive program is designed to equip office-based primary care clinicians with practical, evidence-based management strategies across four core clinical specialties: neurology, pulmonology, otolaryngology (ENT), and gynecology. Through systematic didactic lectures, diagnostic algorithms, and clinical reviews, participants will explore the outpatient management of cerebrovascular accidents and cognitive disorders, evaluation of complex multisystem conditions (POTS/EDS/MCAS), contemporary management of chronic obstructive and inflammatory airway diseases, diagnostic workups for dizziness and neck masses, evidence-based guidelines for breast and cervical cancer screening, and clinical solutions for complex contraceptive and gynecologic disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:

  • Utilize prevention and treatment strategies for cerebrovascular disorders.

  • Discuss evidence-based management options for Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Utilize case-based learning to develop treatment plans for neurologic conditions.

  • Describe the differential diagnosis and treatment options for migraine headaches.

  • Recognize diseases that present with a complaint of dizziness.

  • Diagnose and manage patients with asthma.

  • Design treatment strategies reflective of current evidence-based medicine for common respiratory infections.

  • Describe the current therapeutic management of COPD.

  • Discuss diagnosis and screening strategies as well as treatment plans for lung nodules and lung cancer.

  • Diagnose deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism and discuss appropriate therapeutic options.

  • Identify when imaging and/or referral to an ENT is necessary for patients presenting with a neck mass.

  • Recommend appropriate systemic and/or topical antimicrobial agents for the treatment of sinusitis.

  • Review the basic allergic pathways that affect the body, with particular emphasis on the nasal and sinus regions.

  • Accurately differentiate between sensorineural and conductive hearing loss.

  • Identify management approaches for tinnitus.

  • Identify evidence-based tools to determine best practices in incorporating all necessary elements in the annual women’s health visit.

  • Describe approaches to counseling patients for making complex contraceptive decisions.

  • Discuss the current evidence and recommendations regarding breast cancer screening.

  • Assess and manage abnormal uterine bleeding.

  • Describe the management of abnormal pap smears and HPV.

Target Audience

This program is targeted to office-based primary care providers and other health professionals with updates in primary care medicine.

Best for Internists, Family Medicine Physicians, Neurologists, Pulmonologists, Otolaryngologists (Head and Neck Surgeons), Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Allergists and Immunologists, and Vascular Medicine Specialists.
