Internal Medicine for Primary Care: Dermatology/Gastroenterology/Oncology is an exceptional continuing medical education conference organized by Medical Education Resources (MER). Held at the Holiday Inn Estes Park in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, this clinical update is specifically designed to provide office-based primary care practitioners with pragmatic, evidence-based management strategies across three critical and frequently intersecting clinical disciplines: gastroenterology, dermatology, and oncology. Through structured didactic sessions, diagnostic algorithms, and clinical reviews, participants will explore modern approaches to lower gastrointestinal bleeding, colorectal cancer screening guidelines, celiac disease and malabsorption, hepatitis B and C management, cutaneous clues of systemic diseases, acneiform disorders, skin lesion biopsies, evidence-based cancer prevention, clinical evaluation of suspected malignancy, long-term cancer survivorship care, and primary care management of direct oral anticoagulants.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:

  • List current treatment recommendations for the management of lower GI bleeding.

  • Discuss the guidelines for colonoscopic colorectal cancer screening and surveillance.

  • Recommend appropriate testing for the workup of celiac disease.

  • List current treatment recommendations for HBV and HCV.

  • Identify cutaneous findings that serve as surrogates of internal diseases.

  • Describe the step-wise approach for the diagnosis and treatment of acne and acneiform eruptions.

  • Differentiate benign and malignant skin tumors and employ appropriate interoffice procedures.

  • Detect pre-cancerous and cancerous skin lesions.

  • Identify clinical practices shown to prevent cancer.

  • Discuss the diagnostic approach to the patient with suspected cancer.

  • Evaluate and manage risks of the cancer survivor.

  • Manage patients on new oral anticoagulants.

Target Audience

This program is targeted to office-based primary care providers and other health professionals with updates in primary care medicine. Best for Internists, Family Medicine Physicians, Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, Dermatologists, Medical Oncologists, Hematologists, and Surgical Oncologists.
