Overview

More and more, cancer survivors are being cared for by non-oncology providers. Understanding potential toxicities related to chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy and hormone therapy is essential in providing comprehensive care for all stages of survivorship.

During this one-day symposium on caring for cancer survivors in the primary care setting, attendees will hear speakers from cardiology, endocrinology, integrative medicine, behavioral health, nursing, medicine, and clinical genetics. The symposium will address the entire spectrum of cancer survivorship care: monitoring and management of late- and long-term effects ranging from cardiotoxicity to cognitive changes, screening for other malignancies, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

This course is intended for primary care providers who are interested in learning more about how to care for cancer survivors.

Objectives
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of treatment-related toxicities for the most common cancers.
  2. Show facility with existing guidelines and principles for caring for survivors.
  3. Understand more detailed recommendations and findings from recent research in heritable causes of cancer and immunotherapy
