This course provides critical updates from esteemed sports medicine experts regarding clinically essential anatomy, including imaging of the tendon, muscle, ligament, cartilage, and bone of the extremities. Specific evidence-based discussions will focus on reviewing athletic injuries of the chest and abdomen. In addition to the complete anatomic review, radiologists will examine the explicit pathologic conditions of each joint using multiple modalities: radiography and ultrasound, as well as CT and MR imaging.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this activity is radiologists and other health care professionals who have an interest in imaging of sports injuries.
Goals and Objectives:
After completing the material in this article, the learner should be able to:

  1. Identify important anatomic structures of the extremities
  2. List the common pathologic conditions seen with sports injuries
  3. Recognize the imaging features of sports injuries
  4. Understand the roles of radiography, ultrasound, CT, and MR imaging in the evaluation of sports injuries
