Overview:

This virtual conference centers on the interface between obstetrics and psychiatry, with national experts on diverse topics that include innovations and technology in perinatal mental health for underserved populations, pregnancy wellness practices in the California Native American community, nutrition optimization for mental health during pregnancy and postpartum, assessment of infant attachment, mindfulness during pregnancy, and maternal and family health consequences from denial of abortion. This year’s conference also includes interactive components such as opportunities to submit a challenging case for expert discussion, and small group networking over the noon hour.

Target Audience
The course is designed for all clinicians who work with pregnant people which includes physicians (OB, family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry), midwives, nurse practitioners, psychotherapists, and social workers among others.

Objectives:

  • Recognize and evaluate trauma, including PTSD from the birth experience and the repercussions of the pandemic
  • Learn of expanded postpartum care and newer interventions in the world of child birth
  • Update our knowledge of medications used to treat depression in all aspects of mental health conditions in pregrancy
  • Network with mental health professionals in all aspects of care
